As you know, there are only two weekend Masses at St. Martin’s (Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 a.m.). The Church’s Code of Canon Law (Canon 534 §1) requires that a pastor offer a Mass on each Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation for his people: this Mass is usually designated by the Latin phrase “Pro Populo”. That means that each weekend, there is only one open space for a Mass intention to be requested. Because of the difficulty in scheduling the number of Masses that have been requested for weekend Masses, starting in January 2022, a parishioner will only be allowed to request one weekend Mass per month. This policy will allow more individuals to have their Mass intentions offered at weekend Masses.
